love

Though you belittle me

To build up yourself on

A shaky base of falseness

I wish you well

Though you accuse me

Of your own faults

To avoid facing them

I wish you well

Though you disrespect me

With your actions and words

To hide the belief you deserve no respect

I wish you well

Though you condemn my beliefs

Because you fear them

Since they challenge you

I wish you well

Though you attempt to

Extinguish my light for fear

Of what it may reveal in you

I wish you well

I wish you strength of character

An open mind and heart

And unlimited Love

I wish you well

Boo!

Boo!, halloween, treats, tricks, witches, Zombies

Shining jack-o-lantern moon

peeking through skeletal trees

chilly cat’s paw sweeping

dry clattering leaves along

the dusty winding path

black cat arches

lantern eyes glaring!

sticky cobwebs fluttering

at the passing of

howling werewolves

cackling witches

moaning ghosties

shuffling zombies

Beware as they

loudly cadge treats

or portend tricks

while collywobbles threaten

the gluttonous

as the witching hour

draws ever nearer

Happy Halloween!

October 14

A day that brought change

irrevocably, transcendentally

in ways unimaginable

to me, to my life

to my soul

A day that brought fear

As I looked in your eyes

The very first time

How do I do this?

How is it possible

to be responsible

for another human life?

I know nothing!

I’m a mess

What if I mess you up?

What if you hate me because of it?

A day that brought understanding

of what Love truly is

and is not

It has nothing to do with

a feeling

and everything to do with

a state of being

Of giving all of myself, but

A day of understanding

My state of being and of giving is

Not nearly enough

Not nearly enough time

Not nearly enough wisdom

Not nearly enough hope

Not nearly enough understanding

Not nearly enough humor

Not nearly enough strength

Not nearly enough compassion

Not nearly enough kindness

But, coming also to understand

That even though I alone am not

Nearly enough

Together we have

All that is needed

to make everything

More than enough

The day you taught me

To step outside my self-centered bubble

And see the oneness of life

The day you taught me

How to be more fully everything

Not just for myself

But for everyone I love

Thank you for choosing me

to be your mother

Viral Predator Threatens Dallas

A predator stalks the city

unseen and unseeable

unheard and unhearable

only making itself felt

through the feverish heat

caused by viral attacks

of chuckling and muttering hyena pundits

and buzzing, circling vulture helicopters

a populace convinced they are next to die

behaving like meerkats popping up and down

imagining blood seeping, leaking, spraying

frantic to understand

yet hiding their heads in the ground

as the predator looms large

given free reign to roam

because rumor is easier than truth

paranoia more comforting than trust

hysteria more interesting than calm

the viral predator

takes more and more victims

and even more refuse to inoculate

against the rising threat

because there cannot be trust

in the lion that governs

and says all is safe

itself sure to chew on your bones

if you let it get close

so rumor, paranoia, hysteria

and the viral predator

FEAR burn through the city

Bright, still, sultry day

Languid flight

Silent games

Butterflies play

Flowers nodding in a trance

Loops and whorls

Tumbling mosaic

Butterflies dance

Drowsing stands a stately tree

Fluttering rainbows

Shimmering joy

Butterflies free
